Over centuries, the slow movement of glaciers has created some of the most impressive geological formations on Earth. As glaciers rise and retreat, they expose fertile soil and deposit it elsewhere. In the process, many of the felled trees are preserved as subfossils and pressed into a glacier's moraine – the dense mass of sediment that a glacier deposits at its outer edge. The Montblanc Iced Sea Automatic Date 0 Oxygen Limited Edition timepiece is dedicated to this particular geological formation, which is also found in the Mer de Glace – the largest glacier in the Mont Blanc massif. The watch features a unique, striking dial incorporating fragments of subfossil wood from the Mer de Glace – several thousand years old and preserved within the glacial ice. This limited edition of 700 pieces is housed in a completely oxygen-free 41 mm stainless steel case. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a brown ceramic insert, laser-etched markings from 0 to 15 minutes, an embossed case back, and an interchangeable stainless steel bracelet with a micro-adjustment system. The timepiece is water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters.
